Despite the COVID-19 epidemic that has shaken the global, the photodynamic symposium in dermatology held online successively in China. Dermatologists and researchers devoted to the photomedicine to relieve patient’s diseases.

Advances of Photodynamic and Photomedicine for the Treatment of Dermatoses Symposium in Shanghai

Advances of Photodynamic and Photomedicine for the Treatment of Dermatoses Symposium, was held in Shanghai (September 4 – 7, 2020) hosted by Prof. Xiuli Wang’s group, Shanghai Skin Disease Hospital, Tongji University. Over three thousand clinicians and researches attended the symposium online. Twenty eight topics were included and delivered during the symposium, showing new studies in scientific and clinical research relating to photodiagnosis and photodynamic therapies. Attention was focused on aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) in actinic keratosis and hemoporfin in PDT for port-wine. And the details and skills of ALA-PDT had been performed in the meeting. Until now, nearly 3,000 hospitals have performed ALA-PDT, and more than 1000,000 patients have benefited from it.

PDT session in 16th Annual Meeting of China Dermatologist Association & 26th Annual Meeting of Chinese Society of Dermatology

16th Annual Meeting of China Dermatologist Association & National Congress of Cosmetic Dermatology (October 30 to November 1, 2020) and 26th Annual Meeting of Chinese Society of Dermatology (November 26 – 29, 2020), the top and largest two national dermatology annual meetings in China, were held online. The sessions on PDT (October 31 & November 28) were both chaired by Prof. Xiuli Wang and focused on the progress and application of PDT in dermatology, such as discussing the difference of the guideline in China of PDT (2020) and international versions. And other scientists and clinicians presented their work in different fields of PDT, for example, the application of PDT with surgery in skin cancer.

Chinese photodynamic experts actively participated in domestic and international photodynamic conferences even during the epidemic. We are sure those meetings helped stimulate cooperation between members of the PDT community. We look forward to China Photodynamics' greater contribution to human health and medicine.
