AWARD FOR THE SIGNIFICANT ADVANCEMENT OF PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY: This award is in recognition of recent or current breakthrough work that has the potential to ignite funding, people, resources into the field and can lead to greater adoption of photodynamics globally.

BASIC PDT RESEARCH EXCELLENCE AWARD: Future uses and capabilities of PDT rely on continuing to grow our understanding of photodynamics, various methods and materials, and impacts on microbes and the microbiome. This award recognizes such scientific research, including pre-clinical in vitro work.

CLINICAL PDT RESEARCH EXCELLENCE AWARD: Taking the theory of PDT and putting into practice in clinical application into human treatments is a vital part of the advancement of PDT and a key goal of the IPA. This award recognizes these efforts, which include protocol development and validation of efficacy and safety.

EARLY INVESTIGATOR AWARD: This award recognizes up-and-coming ambassadors of photodynamics, young leaders in promoting the technology internally and externally. Nominees will be early in their PDT careers (fewer than 10 years in the field) and demonstrate passion, commitment, creativity, resourcefulness, curiosity in the pursuit of learning, advancing, and promoting PDT.

HUMANITARIAN AWARD: The IPA is pleased to announce this new award to recognize those who have made selfless efforts and personal sacrifices with little or no compensation to help patients in need. This may include, but is not limited to, providing extra treatments, staying late, and travelling to less fortunate areas of the world to help people in need.

OUTSTANDING POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW AWARD (2): Nominee must be a current postdoctoral scholar, fellow or postdoctoral research associate at an academic/accredited research institution for at least one year, but not more than five years. Industry postdoctoral fellows are also eligible to apply. Nominee must display excellence in scientific research, innovation, leadership, outreach and service, measured by (1) significance and innovation in the field of PDT research, (2) leadership and advocacy in the professional society and postdoctoral community, (3) the impact of the outreach and service to the IPA community, and efforts and outcomes in professional development.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: This award recognizes substantial contribution over many* years to the field of photodynamics, building up the community and/or the science. The contribution can be in the basic science, clinical applications, or in the commercialization, financing, and enabling services of PDT. Past winners are not eligible for nomination.
