Professor François Guillemin
Professor François Guillemin
It is with great regret we have to announce the death of Professor François Guillemin on December 24, 2020. He was a consummate gentleman and a passionate surgeon who was deeply involved in medical research. He played a key role in the development of cancer research and treatment and was an important promoter of photodynamic therapy in Nancy, France and elsewhere in Europe
He was University Professor of oncology and a member of the CRAN research laboratory in Nancy for 30 years. He was also General Director of the Institute of Oncology of Lorraine for 10 years and a Member of the French Society of Medical Lasers (now SFPMed) for 15 years. He had a great medical and scientific approach and was a brilliant, demanding doctor although his criticisms were always fair and well argued.
A man of heart, he was always attentive to others. His professional achievements were impressive but he still remained humble. His generosity went far beyond his work.
We have lost a colleague, we have lost a friend, we have lost a mentor to many of us
François, thank you for everything you have given us, thank you for your professionalism and your humanity.
We will never forget you.
